AIMG’s Vaccination and Immunization Services
Avenel Iselin Medical Group is pleased to offer vaccines and immunizations for the whole family. We follow the strictest guidelines and protocols as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
What is a Vaccine?
A vaccine is a preparation that is created in a medical lab designed to protect a person against a specific disease. It contains the same pathogens (or germs) that cause the disease, but they’ve been weakened so that you don’t get sick when you are given a dose. This weakened strain stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies to protect your body against the disease without you ever becoming ill!
The History of Vaccines
A lot is being said about vaccines these days, but rest assured that they have been around for a long time, helping boost immunity to ward off diseases. For example, the Smallpox vaccine was developed by Edward Jenner all the way back in 1796. Revolutionary for its time, it was tested and found to be so effective that the deadly disease became completely eradicated worldwide. As a result, this vaccine is no longer given because it is no longer needed. The elimination of this disease is seen as one of the greatest international public health achievements, and for a good reason!
The vaccines of today follow the same guiding principles, and we at AIMG play our role in providing immunity against the diseases that affect the world today. In alignment with the CDC, we remain current with offering all routine vaccinations for adults and adolescents.

COVID-19 Vaccinations
There are a lot of different opinions about COVID-19 vaccinations–which one is best, or even whether you should get one at all.
You can rest assured knowing that COVID-19 vaccinations are created with the same guiding principles and strict medical protocols as the other tried and true vaccines that have helped ward off illness, and in some cases, eradicate the disease. COVID-19 vaccinations have been proven to help reduce the transmission of the disease and lessen the effects on those who come down with it.
The CDC has documented studies that reflect that COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing severe illnesses from COVID-19, including hospitalization. They are even more effective when followed up with boosters.
